Your Dad is vaguely familiar Michelle.  I've been working in Shilo since 93 at Range Control.  Small world!  Those were the days when GATES was in Shilo...do you work in town - perhaps our paths have crossed.

My dad worked Range Control for GATES from 77 to 81, we lived at 5 Kingston, in 81 we moved to Lahr but my brother stayed behind and worked at the firehall on base until the late 90's.  I was back in Shilo in the early 90's for a visit, the changes then were huge, I can't imagine what it's like now.  I heard they closed PEHS, I still have my old school jacket, in Lahr the pockets ripped and I used to load the jacket up with Heinies to go to movies and Base Flyers hockey games...

Funny how you read something in here and your mind just jumps from one memory to another... idle mental wanderings I guess...

Hey Ken, what is Dad's name?  And your brother (his name?) likely worked with my brother and Dad at the firehall in Shilo.  Small world!  My Dad was the Deputy Fire Chief (George aka "Scotty" Kirk).  He was there 80-94 I think.  My brother left the Shilo fire department in 84 to go to Borden fire hall - still there.

My dad's name is Don RODGER, he was an MWO when we were in Shilo, he was one of the few Engineers on base, he did Range Control for GATES in the summer and also did the snow removal on the streets in the winter.  He used to have them pile all the snow up in a open lot near the Teen Centre and had it shaped so we could use it as a toboggan hill.  My brother is Wayne RODGER, he left Shilo years ago for Saskatoon where he is a Fire Marshall now, I know he worked at Simplot in Brandon for a few years before getting on at the Firehall... I'm thinking.. 84 maybe.  I knew the names of some of the guys he worked with but... I'm drawing a Soprano's ending...

Hi Michelle, i remember your name but cannot put a face to you for some reason. My father also was a cook and was WO with 4 SVC BTN while we were in Lahr, from 81-86. We lived in area 32.
