When we returned to Canada in '81 we were posted to Kingston. My Dad was an MP and recalls rousting kids out of the Red Rock area on a semi-frequent basis. He actually thought it was a pretty cool place for kids to hang out, but as with all good things, he says it was spoiled by a few bad apples.

Actually, now that you mention it- I remember them telling us ahead of time that they would be blowing up the old smoke stacks. All the people were standing in the street in front of the LX to watch it go down.

Yeah, I remember that, watching the smokestack come down... man I totally forgot about that... for some reason I'm thinking the factory had something to do with tobacco, whether they made smokes there or just processed it... I could be wrong but....

Leather processing if'n I'm not mistaken. Used to reek profusly when it was in operation, and that's why it had the river frontage- clean water in-stinky water out

Yup- there was indeed a pond at the bottom. And I believe it is both age and the drink.....

I remember both "Red Rocks" you guys have been talking about. We lived on Falaise Way in Kingston in between '66 & '68, & Red Rock was where all the "big kids" (I was only 6 in '66) went to do unspeakable things
. As for the quarry up behind the caserne, past the smelly old leather tanning factory, was the scene of many a wild party, as I recall. I went up there a few times with Nancy Funke, who lived along the "frog road". Ah, memories of Jaegermeister, Honda 50's & certain boys in my grade!

Boy i remember both red rock behind the mess near the casern, and the grillplatz on the side of the casern (the side where the school busses would be waiting) and that would be the place where Lahr senior teens would hang out on week ends (i used to go at George Vanier high school) but i had Lahr senior frends and i could speak english so i was welcome to there parties
Buy the way i was in Lahr from 87 to 90 and i passed my summer 92 there also.
