Come on you two what's wrong with the movie???
I betcha you would have liked to fix up that beater of a car they did in the movie as they sang "Greased Lightening" and then raced it down some stretch of road??

Well,if you like that type of music(which I do as well),you'll be happy to hear that they just announced that 7 Dec...METTALICA is coming to edmonton, and coming to cow town on the 3rd.Also ACDC will be around the begining of the new year, for a possible two shows.OPPS...sorry you're in ontario,no dates as of yet for anywhere in ontario yet.

DrK: I should have added this next bit to my last post on this subject: Some of the Calgary concert was posted on YouTube, so if you get bored over the next little while, check it out. I didn't but the TV station I watch had included a bit of the "YT" on their broadcast.
Have fun.

So, I went to the show last night, with that buddy of mine from Lahr.. In between Sabbath and Judas Priest, I scammed his cell phone and phoned a girl we knew in Lahr that he happened to have in his contact list- got her voice mail.
( hey- can someone get the phone)
So I just yelled that he and I were having a good time at teh show.. Then used the picture feature of his phone to send a pic of myslef at the show to her..
( hey- the phone's still ringing. Could someone answer it please?)
She probably won't have a clue who the hell I am- She hasn't heard my voice since 1985, and I have no idea if she has seen a recent pic of me.
The show was spectacular- all the bands were "on". The accousitics in the Amphitheatre are amazing. The bass was just pounding out and.. OH FOR THE LOVE GOD WILL SOMEONE ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE?!?!?!?!

Thats an awesume line up!!!!! Tom Petty was amazing,I wasn't to sure if it was going to be a good show or not,but it was well worth the money. The next night was Crue Fest, another amazing show,Papa Roach,Buck Cherry, were on the money, and the crue blew the rest away.Vince Neils voice still sounds good after all these years, and various substance abuses...lol.

Missed TomPetty, but heard it was a great show here in Calgary. Also heard that Steve Winwood was great too and came out and sang along with Petty on one song.
Crue Fest, gee missed that one. Only like one or two of their songs [Wildside being one - love the video for that one with Tommy going spinnnig upside down a couple times as he's strapped to his drum kit], can't honestly say I've heard any songs by Papa and Buck though.
Next big classic rock show here in Elton John in a couple weeks and then in mid-October the really, truly first grunge artist, a chap from Winnipeg named Neil Young.
I have a question though; how did we all start talking about concerts when this thread started out about Summer Movies??

We don't like to colour inside the lines. Or maybe there just haven't been many good summer movies to talk about?

I heard the new Ben Stiller movie "Tropic Thunder" is supposed to be funny. Seems to me that movies are out in major theatres just for a few weeks, then are showing in the discount theatres and within two months of the release are on DVD and BlueRay. Am I right?
